Why not treat tradition as something modular?

Three things are needed now
Two of them sit on these other four things

The rest is not needed in this time and place
Not removed from the tradition but not active

Burdensome educations require you to start at the beginning and learn all of the tradition in chronological order, even if most of it is not useful here and now.

An agile engagement with tradition understands the map and the need, and doesn’t waste energy on the rest.
